Coronavirus: health professionals in summary against the campaign for the influenza vaccine

Une fifty health professionals asked, Friday, before the civil court of Brussels in summary, the cessation of the campaign for the vaccine against influenza, citing the Belgian state as responsible. They believe that there is misleading advertising regarding this vaccine which has not been tested in times of the coronavirus pandemic. However, according to them, a recent study shows a risk of coronavirus infection increased by 36% for people who have received a vaccination against seasonal flu, compared to people who have not received it. The court order will be issued in a fortnight.

"It is difficult to see how the planned vaccination of three million Belgians against the flu does not risk further worsening the current health situation linked to the coronavirus", declared the applicants, "with the possible consequence of more restrictions to the detriment of freedoms and the well-being of all ”.

Moreover, the effectiveness of this influenza vaccine is not proven, they say. “Contrary to the authorities' claims that the flu vaccination will prevent complications, it turns out that many publications conclude that it is not very effective. A study by M. Anderson, C. Dobkin and D. Gorry concludes that 'influenza vaccination does not decrease mortality or the risk of hospitalization', ”they said.

"We must therefore weigh the 0,01% of the population likely to be seriously affected by influenza and the risks that a traditionally ineffective vaccination is likely to incur for the entire Belgian population in the event of vaccination of nearly three million people, who will thus be made potentially much more sensitive to the coronavirus ”, expressed the applicants.
