Lhe Minister-President of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Pierre-Yves Jeholet, on Friday demanded a fair share for his federated entity in the intra-Belgian distribution of the 5,15 billion euros to which Belgium would be entitled in the recovery fund of the EU.

During his re-entry government declaration, Flemish Minister-President Jan Jambon said he expected 3 billion euros for Flanders, out of these 5,15 billion.

“Three billion for Flanders? I don't know how we're going to do it… Flanders is not alone, there is also the federal government, the Walloon and Brussels regions, the Federation… I expect complicated discussions. But if everyone has their own figure, I think that on top of that, we will be well over 5 billion, ”quipped Mr. Jeholet (MR).

He called on the interlocutors to work “seriously” in intra-Belgium, and in a coherent way to avoid “an addition of measures”.

“It will be up to us, at the level of the Federation, to fight so that our concerns, our projects fit into the federal plan. We have needs in terms of school, cultural and sports buildings, digital investments in schools. We will ensure that there is as much as possible for the Federation ”.
