Ballon d'Or Dream Team: Thomas Nkono among the 10 appointed as goalkeeper

While the Ballon d'Or will not be awarded this year, France Football has decided to launch a new concept, “ Dream Team », Aiming to elect the best eleven in history (since the 1950s), post by post. The operation began on Monday, and the weekly will unveil in three stages lists of 10 appointed, by post. The vote will go to the usual Ballon d'Or jurors (around 170 specialists worldwide). Among the goalkeepers, the black spider, Thomas Nkono, is the only African goalkeeper selected among the ten nominees. This list only includes the largest.


Thomas Nkono is in competition with other big world stars like Gianluigi Buffon (Italy), Gordon Banks (England), Iker Casillas (Spain), Sepp Maier (Germany), Manuel Neuer (Germany), Peter Schmeichel (Denmark), Edwin Van de Sar (Netherlands), Lev Yachine (Russia) and Dino Zoff (Italy).

Thomas Nkono, former Canon Sportif Yaoundé goalkeeper, is the only African among the goalkeepers, with his brilliant career both in club and selection. The double African golden ball (1979 and 1982) remains a reference to his post in the world and remains the African paragon at his post.

The Dream Team will be unveiled in December 2020.
