Five people arrested in County Tyrone

Five people arrested in County Tyrone by police investigating the kidnapping and assault of a man in the Republic of Ireland have been released on bail.

The victim, in his 11s, was allegedly assaulted by three men on Sunday at a home in Convoy, County Donegal, at 45:XNUMX a.m. local time.

Police said he was forced into a gray Mercedes and found five hours later.

He was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries, the Gardaí (Irish police) said.

The vehicle was then located by the Northern Ireland Police Service (PSNI) outside a house in Castlederg, County Tyrone.

Three men and two women arrested following property searches have been released on bail pending further investigations, PSNI said.

Gardaí said they link the attack to a string of incidents in Donegal - at Ballbofey, Killygordon and Lifford - in the early hours of Sunday.
