The Israeli businessman and the Cameroonian bank, questioned in July by the NGO Global Witness for, among other things, corrupt practices, have each filed a defamation complaint in Paris. The judicial showdown is launched.
According to our information, Afriland First Bank lodged, on October 2, a defamation complaint against the British NGO Global Witness (GW) and the Platform for the Protection of Whistleblowers in Africa (PPLAAF) before the dean of the judges of instruction from the Paris tribunal de grande instance.
The Cameroonian bank, represented by Me Eric Moutet, became a civil party and attacked the report Sanctions, casually published July 2 by GW and PPLAAF. She considers that this document defamatory accusations of corruption, complicity in money laundering as well as violations of the American sanctions system.
