Celine Dion 'deeply touched' by fan support after mother's death

Céline Dion thanked the fans for helping her through a difficult period after the death of her mother.

Thérèse Dion, a mother of 14, was surrounded by family and friends when she died in Quebec City on January 17 while her star daughter was in the middle of her Courage world tour.

The sad news did not affect the ride, however, with Céline who went on stage just hours after the death of her mother and, on Instagram, the star of Imperfections shared a beautiful black and white photo of her mother as she thanked the fans for their support.

"On behalf of my whole family, I want to thank you all for your expressions of sympathy, which touched us deeply," she wrote. “If you wish, you can write a note or make a donation on the Fondation Maman Dion website.

“Helping children in need will help us heal. - Céline xx… ”

Thérèse had been struggling with serious health issues for months before her death, according to her eldest daughter Claudette Dion, who said she suffered from memory loss and hearing and visual impairments.
